Big Band Performances
Dan has performed the Jimmy Smith big band songbook with arrangements by Oliver Nelson, Thad Jones, Lalo Schifrin and Johnny Pate with major professional orchestras including the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra and numerous high school and college big bands at jazz festivals and concerts nationwide.
These arrangements from the classic Verve albums made in the 1960’s are sure showstoppers that amaze audiences with their intensity and fire with orchestrations that include the use of traditional orchestral instruments with big band.
Dan recreated the Jimmy Smith Christmas big band album at the Tennessee Theater with the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra for their annual Christmas concert.
Orchestra and big band directors are urged to make bookings well in advance of their concerts or jazz festivals.
